MHRD Plans To Evaluate Student For Analyzing Satisfaction Level With Universities and Colleges

In an amazing move by MHRD to evaluate institutions in the country by the currently studying students themselves where many educational institutes do not deliver on their promises. India’s human resources development (HRD) ministry will soon survey students on their satisfaction with their colleges and universities as part of the process of evaluating institutes.

 

“Student satisfaction is key for any institution. It will now form part of educational institutes evaluation process,” said D.P. Singh, director of the national assessment and accreditation council or NAAC, an autonomous body under the HRD ministry

 

HRD minister Prakash Javadekar said institutional evaluation will be made robust; the ministry is in favour of third-party validation of all data provided by colleges and universities for evaluation and accreditation. Factors for surveying as per officials at the ministry shall be

  1. The quality of teaching.
  2. Learning environment.
  3. The qualification of teachers and their domain expertise,
  4. Infrastructure promised and provided,
  5. Placements Levels

Though the sample shall include mostly of graduating students for the evaluation of the institutions on five point scale, mentioned above.

It Will be a phased Event:

The government will survey students in two phases, keeping in view that identity of students must be protected:

  1. Through the list of students provided by the institutions.
  2. By random sampling carried out by expert teams.

  At least 10% of the students of an institution will be surveyed according to ministry officials. Mostly,
