Applicants should note that registration for XAT 2019 and appearing for XAT 2019 is the preliminary step towards applying to XLRI and XAT Associate Institutes.
The examination of XAT is conducted in two parts, the first part consist of objective type questions whereas the second part consists of GK and Essay writing and the total test duration will be of 3 hr 30 min. The exam pattern of XAT is not to be fixed and the number of questions in each section may change. The official exam pattern of XAT 2019 is not released yet so we are providing the previous year exam pattern which is given below:

There will negative marking of 0.25 marks for any wrong answer in part 1 and 0.05 marks for more than 8 unattempted questions.
There will be no negative marking in part 2.
Essay Writing will be computer-based and 200 words will be the maximum word limit for Essay Writing.
Before applying for the XAT 2019 every applicant should know about the selection procedure of XLRI and prepare accordingly. The selection procedure through XAT is different in all institutes i.e. selection procedure varies as per the participating institute. After qualifying the written examination the selection process is completed by two steps which are given below:

After all the selection procedures there will be merit list prepared by the XLRI, which is based on the candidate's score. XLRI has the right to change the weightage of the above sections after analyzing GD/PI data.
The counselling process will start in February after the result, there will be no common counselling by XLRI. Each college has their own counselling procedure. Candidate's whose name in the merit list they have to register at the official website of your preferred college to appear in counselling. The step by step counselling procedure is given below:

There is no syllabus could be drawn from the essay writing section, abstract topics will be chosen and could be related to nature, society and recent activity etc.
