Basic Details

SNAP or Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is the most prominent management exam that candidate opt for seeking admission in top Symbiosis institutes. There are 15 institutes participating in SNAP for the admission to its MBA programmes.

Symbiosis National Aptitude or SNAP is the gateway exam to seek admission to join MBA programs offered by institutes of Symbiosis International University. A candidate needs to register for SNAP Test & also register for the institutes offering his/ her choice of program by paying separate program registration fees.

Eligibility

The eligibility for this exam is mentioned below in detail. Since the candidates participating in the exam are both Indian and international candidates. Hence candidates must check their eligibility specifically.

Eligibility for Indian Candidates:

  1. Candidates must be a graduate from any MHRD recognized university or Institute with a minimum of 50% marks for general category candidates and 45% for SC/ST candidates.
  2. A candidate who has completed a qualifying degree from any Foreign University must obtain an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
  3. All foreign degrees/ qualifications need to be verified from AIU by the candidate before seeking admission to any program of SIU.
  4. Evaluation Division of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) issues equivalence certificate for foreign degrees/qualifications.

The Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE)

Any candidate who is deemed to be international students then you must be among the following categories:

  1. Foreign National: Candidate must hold a foreign passport to fall under this category.
  2. Person of Indian Origin: Candidate must hold a PIO card, and must be a citizen of a country other than India, to be part of this category.
  3. Overseas Citizen of India: Candidate must hold an OCI card, and must be a citizen of a country other than India, to seek admission through this category.
  4. Non-Resident Indian: Candidate must have given one of the two qualifying examinations i.e. intermediate or graduation to be given outside India.

NRI Candidates need to appear in SNAP 2019 to seek admission in all participating institutes.

Exam Pattern

There are four sections in SNAP 2019 with a total number of questions to be 110 with total marks as 150 awarding different marks (see table below) for each correct answer and 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer. Candidates must note that paper pattern since 2018 was changed and the below-mentioned test pattern is also based on previous year pattern. Any change in the test pattern of SNAP 2019 will be updated here once the official notification released.

Important Points:

  • SNAP Test duration is of 120 minutes
  • SNAP Test is an objective type test conducted in online mode only i.e. CBT.
  • Each question has 4 responses.
  • Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.
  • For special questions, which will have blanks where answers should be entered by the candidate using the virtual keyboard. For Example - What are the last two digits of the number 745? Then by using virtual keyboard you have to enter the answer as 07

Selection Procedure

After the successful examination, the exam conducting body will release the result and candidates will be shortlisted for GE-PIWAT based on their overall SNAP Percentile. Please check the respective institute website for information and dates of GE-PIWAT. The disclaimer regarding the shortlisting of candidates is given below:

  • It is mandatory to attend all components/tests of GE-PIWAT to be eligible for admission to any PG programmes.
  • Only candidates who attend all components/tests of selection process (GE-PIWAT) shall be considered as eligible for generation of merit /wait/reject list.
  • Candidates who remain absent for any one of the component/test will be considered as ineligible for selection process of any of the MBA/M.Sc. (CA)/M.Sc. (SS) degree programmes of SIU.

Counselling Procedure

There is no counselling in SNAP the students will be shortlisted for GE-PIWAT based on their overall SNAP Percentile and after that category-wise cut off for Merit List and Wait List will be displayed on the website of the respective institutes. The candidate has to undergo document verification and then they can take the admission.

Preparation Strategy

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is the most prominent management exam in which 15 institutes participating for the admission to its MBA programmes. So candidates have to be serious for the exam and prepare accordingly, there are some points given below that may help students:
