IIT Bhubaneswar has started the online applications for admission to Ph.D. Programme for Institute Scholar, Sponsored Scholar, Project Scholar (Projects running at IIT Bhubaneswar) for the year 2018-19. Those candidates who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria they can apply online from the official admission portal on or before 31^st October 2018.

There are 7 schools available at IIT Bhubaneswar for Ph.D. in which students can apply for the 15 different programmes. The candidates can also apply for more than one discipline; they have to submit separate online application(s) for each discipline along with requisite application fee as applicable. The available schools and programmes list is given below:

Eligibility Criteria to Apply

The eligibility criteria are varies on the basis of scholar as well as choosing the programme. The scholar’s eligibility is given below, all candidates must check before applying for the application form.

1. Eligibility Criteria for Institute Scholar:
   Those candidates who are fulfilling eligibility of the qualifications as per the department’s requirement they are eligible for admission into the Ph. D. Programme for full-time with Institute Research Assistantship or UGC/CSIR-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) or any other doctoral fellowship offered by Govt. of India (GoI), as the case is applicable. A relaxation of up to 5% marks in all academic examination levels is permitted for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
    
2. Eligibility Criteria for Sponsored Scholar:
   The sponsored candidates are not eligible for Institute Research Assistantship; but they must meet the same requisite standards of marks/grades in their qualifying degree and other examinations as mentioned for the applying programme(s). They must also be in continuous service for at least three (3) years in any one of the following organizations, where appropriate R & D facilities exist:
   a) Departments and Ministries of the Government of India or any other government organization.
   b) Established industrial research and developmental organizations.
   c) Recognized autonomous bodies and public undertakings.
   d) Recognized universities/colleges.
    
3. Eligibility Criteria for Project Scholar:
   The scholars working in sponsored research projects at IIT Bhubaneswar can apply for the Ph.D. Programme if they meet the applicable eligibility criteria for admission and have at least two years of fellowship tenure remaining, counting from the academic session or semester in which they are seeking admission. If such a candidate intends to be considered for Institute Research Assistantship after the tenure of the project is over, he/she must present a valid GATE score at that point of time or provide the evidence of a valid GATE score used in the year of admission into M.Tech. or equivalent programme.

How to Appply for the Online Application

1. Visit the online application portal for Ph.D. admissions (webapps.iitbbs.ac.in/phd-application).
2. Do your registration by click on register tab and provide your current functioning Email ID.
3. Login to the portal by providing the Email ID and password provided at the time of registration.
4. Provide the relevant information from Step 1 to Step 3.
5. After filling up the details take a review of your provided data.
6. If the provided information is correct then click on “SAVE & SUBMIT” tab to submit your application.
7. Female candidates doesn’t need to pay Application Fee and they can take a print of the application form for the future reference.
8. Male candidates are required to pay the application fee by follow the payment instructions.
9. After Successful payment, candidate will get a SB Collect Reference No.
10. Note down the Payment SB Collect Reference No. Click on the "Confirm & Submit Payment Details for <Application Num>" Button present at the "User Home" Tab and provide data of Fee Payment Mode, Fee Payment Date, Fee Payment SB Collect Reference No. and then submit.
11. After completing the application form and final submission, candidates can take a print of the application form for the future reference.

Note: The application form without valid Payment SB Collect Reference No. will be automatically discarded.
