JEE Advance 2017: Many students skipped the exam, maximum from IIT Kanpur zone.

India's one of the most prestigious exams JEE Advance saw high number of absentee. The increase in number of students skipping is a matter of concern for authorities. A total of 1,078 candidates in the IIT-Kanpur zone did not write the exam.  IIT Kanpur zone which catered to 10 cities of three states including UP, Uttarakhand and MP. Below is the report from the 10 cities on total registered candidates and how many were absent.

Lucknow: Total of 3,766 candidates were registered to be appear in JEE Advanced in Lucknow. Here170 students did not appear in the exam.

Indore: HEre also topped in MP with this strength of students not coming to write the exam. Here 3,863 students were registered for the exam.

Varanasi: The holy cty situated in bank of ganga, which had a total student strength registered for JEE Advanced of 3,660, witnessed 162 students remaining absent in the exam. This temple city had nine exam centres.

Jhansi: The city saw Lowest strength of students remaining absent in Uttar Pradesh where only 25 candidates did not appear in the exam out of 792 candidates. The city had only two exam centers.

Kanpur: The city had 10 centres with absentee strength of students at 97. The total registered strength of students here was 3,567.

Allahabad: Out of 1,702 candidates registered for JEE Advanced, only 85 were absent. Here five exam centres had been raised for the prestigious exam of JEE Advance.

In Gorakhpur out of 1,826 students, 67 did not turn up to write the exam. In Jabalpur and Bhopal, out of 1,573 and 2,704 candidates respectively, 125 and 144 students remained absent.

 

The results for JEE Advance 2017 will be declared on June 11 - as per the prescribed time table. [With inputs from TOI]
