New Additions in JEE Main 2018:

  • CBSE has announced that diabetic candidate can take fruits, sugar tablets and drinking water bottles inside the test hall.
  • 4000 additional candidates can now apply for JEE Advanced as the number of candidates eligible to appear for exam has increased to 2,24,000 from 2,20,000.

  • Digital/ scanned copy of signature of Father/ Mother/ Guardian of the candidates has to be uploaded in the application form.
  • The number of exam centre cities has gone up to 258 from 113 last year which is almost twice.
  • Number of CFTIs participating in JEE Main 2018 has increased from 20 to 23.
  • Candidates appearing for the JEE Mains exam from Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli will have an additonal choice of appearing for the paper in Gujarati besides English and Hindi. 

 


Important Information Regarding JEE Mains 2018

  1. The Process of Online Application Form Submission for JEE MAIN 2018 will start from 01st Dec 2017 and last date for submission is 01st Jan 2018.
  2. The fee can be paid upto 2nd Jan 2018.
  3. The examination of JEE (Main) - 2018 in pen-paper based (offline) mode will be conducted on 08th April 2018 and Computer Based Mode (Online) Examination will be conducted on 15th & 16th April 2018.
  4. The JEE (Advanced) 2018 will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018.
  5. The entire JEE (Advanced) 2018 Examination will be conducted in fully computer based test mode.
  6. Since there is no weightage of class 12th marks in calculation of ranks in JEE (Main) - 2018.
  7. The roll number of class 12th is not verified this year by the CBSE.
  8. The candidates have to show the marksheet of class 12th (regular/improvement) with 75% marks at the reporting centres at the time of counselling/admission in IITs/NITs/IIITs and other CFTIs. 

 


Eligibility of JEE Mains 2018

Age Criteria:

  • Date of Birth: Candidates those born on or after 1st October 1993 are eligible for writing the JEE Main examination.
  • Relaxation: 5 years relaxation shall be provided in the upper age limit of SC/ST & PWD candidates (i.e. DOB falls on or after 1st October 1988).
  • Date of Birth will be considered as mentioned in secondary education board certificate.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Qualifying Exam: It is must for the candidates to pass the 12th examination/qualifying examination with 5 subjects to be eligible for JEE Main 2018.
  • Subjects: The qualifying examination must be passed/appearing with five subjects. Candidates must have physics & mathematics as compulsory subjects.
  • No Minimum Marks: There is no minimum marks requirement in 12th examination for writing the JEE Main exam. However, candidates have to secure the passing marks.
  • Passing Year: Those who have appeared and passed the higher secondary examination in 2016 and 2017 are also eligible to apply. Moreover, candidates appearing the final examination of 12th in 2018 can also fill the JEE Main application form.
  • In case if candidate appeared the 12th examination in 2015 but not passed in 2015, passed in 2016 are also not eligible.
  • Diploma Holders: Diploma holders may also apply for JEE Main 2018 but only eligible for admission to IITs. In other words, Diploma holders will be eligible for JEE Main so that they can further apply for JEE Advanced but not eligible for admission on the basis of JEE Main scores.

Number of Attempts:

Total 3 attempts will be given for clearing the JEE Main. Attempts will be counted from the year 2017 onwards. JEE Advanced can be attempted maximum 2 times in consecutive years.

Eligibility For Admission in IITs, NITs, CFTIs:

Percentage Marks: To be eligible for admission in IITs, NITs, CFTIs, candidates should have obtained 75% marks in 12th examination or must be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th examination of respective boards. The qualifying marks for SC/ST will be 65%.

 


How to apply for JEE Mains 2018 ?

All the aspirants must read the information brochure carefully before filling the online application form of JEE Main 2018 to get details about how to apply, application fee & payment mode. The details regarding JEE Main application form are given below:

  • Candidates have to fill the JEE Main application form via online mode only.
  • No printed copy will be provided to apply for JEE Main.
  • Applications has been started from 1st December 2017.
  • To apply for JEE Main, students should have Aadhaar Number/Aadhaar Enrollment Number/Registration Number which will be provided by facilitation center.
  • In addition to filling personal & academic details, candidates also have to upload scanned images of photograph and signature in prescribed specifications.
  • Candidates can download the acknowledgement page as the proof of successful submission of application form.

Exam pattern for JEE Mains 2018

For JEE Main Paper-1:

  • Course: Paper-1 is conducted for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses.
  • Exam Mode: The exam mode for paper 1 will be offline (PBT) as well as online (CBT). Candidates can opt any one of the modes as per their suitability.
  • Subjects: The paper-1 will consist of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects.
  • Number of Questions: 30 questions will be asked from each subject with total of 90 questions comprising of 360 marks.
  • Type of Questions: Only objective type questions will be asked in Paper-1.
  • Language: For all exam cities, the question paper medium choice will be English & Hindi (except exam centre cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli where choices for question paper will be English, Hindi and Gujarati). The choice for question paper should be exercised while filling up the application form.
  • Exam Duration: The time duration will be 3 hours.
  • Marking Scheme: Candidates will be provided with +4 marks for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: In case of wrong answer, one mark will be deducted.

For JEE Main Paper-2:

  • Course: Paper-2 is conducted for admission to B.Arch/B.Planning courses.
  • Exam Mode: The exam mode for this paper will be offline (PBT) mode.
  • Number of Questions: 30 questions will be asked in Mathematics (Part-1), 50 questions in aptitude test (Part-2) and 2 questions in drawing comprising of total 390 marks.
  • Type of Questions: The Mathematics and Aptitude test section will contain objective type questions. Drawing test will be subjective.
  • Language: For all exam cities, the question paper medium choice will be English & Hindi (except exam centre cities in Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli where choices for question paper will be English, Hindi and Gujarati). The choice for question paper should be exercised while filling up the application form.
  • Exam Duration: The time duration will be 3 hours.
  • Marking Scheme: Candidates will be provided with +4 marks for each correct answer.

Selection Procedure/Process of JEE Mains 2018

Online Mode:  Candidates can pay the fee in online mode as follows using any one mode

Offline Mode: Candidates have to download the echallan and pay the fees in cash at  the nearest Syndicate Bank/ICICI Bank/Canara Bank.  

 


Admit Card of JEE Mains 2018

Candidates who have completed the registration process successfully will be able to download the admit card. The admit card will be released through online mode. It will not be sent by any offline methods. Candidates have to furnish details like application number, date of birth and security pin to download the JEE Main hall ticket 2018. Candidates are suggested to take printout of the admit card and keep it safe till the admission process gets completed.

JEE Mains 2018 Result

The result of JEE Main 2018 will be made available by CBSE in online mode. JEE Main 2018 result for Paper I will be declared by April 30, 2018, while for Paper II, the result will be declared on May 31, 2018. To check the result, the test takers have to enter their roll number and date of birth. The result will display to the candidates their score in the test and the qualifying status for JEE Advanced 2018 for admissions to the IITs.

Conclusion:

JEE Main 2018 Counselling & Seat Allotment

  • The counselling of JEE Main 2018 will tentatively begin from the third week of June and will continue till the third week of July 2018 (Expected).
  • The counselling and seat allotment will jointly be conducted by JoSAA, which also conducts seat allocation procedure for admission to IITs. T
  • he counselling and seat allotment process of JEE Main 2018 will be held online for admission to 31 NITs, 20 IIITs and 22 CFTIs.
  • Last year, the counselling and seat allotment was held in 7 rounds.

  • JEE Main 2018 participating institutes include 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 23 CFTIs.
