IIT Madras: M.Tech admissions 2018 starts

Those candidates who qualified the GATE 2018 or the IIT graduates with B.Tech degree they can apply for the admission in IIT Madras for the M.Tech programmes. Candidate can apply online from the official website on before 15 April 2018. GATE 2016, 2017 and 2018 qualified candidates and IIT B.Tech graduates only can apply for the M.Tech programmes in IIT Madras.

All GATE qualified candidates who have submitted their application form for M.Tech admission they also have to register at Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) for making the decision against admission offers (if any). However, COAP registration does not start yet but the website will open shortly for registration.

After the successful completion of registration at Common Offer Acceptance Portal, a candidate will be able to access the information on his/her offers made (if any) from the participating Institutes during the time windows to be announced on the COAP portal.

Admission procedure for M.Tech Admissions

  1. Those candidates who don’t require to take Suitability test/Interview will be finalized on the basis of merit of the candidate's GATE Score (CGPA & Department Review in case of IIT Graduates) and on the basis of choices preferred by them in the application form.
  2. Those candidates whose name is not on the merit list they have to appear in the Suitability Test/Interview which is held on 28th April 2018 at 8:30 A.M.
  3. The first set of offers for HTTA and N-HTTA seats are most probably to be announced on 11th May 2018, those candidates who accept the offer they have to pay the Institute Fees through online mode within the provided time window. The second set of offers will be announced if there will be any vacant seat in the institute.
  4. Those candidates who have already accepted the offer and now want to upgrade their choices then it will be possible only if there will be the availability of vacancies otherwise there is no chance of any upgradation in choices.
  5. The candidate also can switch from an HTTA seat to an N-HTTA seat but it must be required that N-HTTA was higher in order of preference given by the candidate initially.
  6. The additional round of offer will take place after the admission day if the candidates who are given admission during first, second and subsequent rounds of offers withdraw from the programme, in this case, the seats will be vacant and there will be the possibility of an additional round of offer to fulfill the vacant seats.
  7. Additional Round of offers to fill the vacant seats will be made on 24th /25th July 2018, those candidates who were unable secure admission in the first, second and subsequent offers will be considered for the Additional Round.
  8. At the last on 23rd July candidates who accept the offer of admission, they must have to produce completion certificate of their qualifying degree examination and join the Institute from forenoon. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the offer of admission.
  9. Sponsored candidates also should report for admission on 23rd July 2018 afternoon.
  10. At the time of admission selected candidates who take admission will have to pay hostel fees and deposit amounts as applicable for the admission.
