Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has postponed the declaration of the second round of counseling result for All India Quota seats till further notice. In response of a petition filed by CPM lawmaker TK Rangarajan, the Madras High Court had directed CBSE to award 196 marks out of a total of 720 to all candidates who took the NEET exam in Tamil. The board will issue a revised ranking list in two weeks and counselling for the medical course will continue after that.
The Madras High Court's decision will benefit around 24,000 students who were anxious about their future, apart from these students ranking there will also change takes place in the AIQ ranking of the students.
"We found both the questions as well their answers wrong," citing an instance where "Cheetah was translated as Seetha in Tamil" Shaji Chellam said.
A petition filed with the Madras High Court claimed that there are 49 questions were wrongly translated in the Tamil language from the NEET question paper and almost 24000 opted for the Tamil Language for the NEET UG 2018.
