JNU has postponed its entrance exam, JNUEE 2019, and now exam will be conducted in May 2019. Interestingly, this is the JNU’s maiden online entrance test which was supposed to be held on in between 27th to 30th December. Now, JNUEE 2019 will be conducted by the new testing agency, National Testing Agency (NTA), and the no of test center is decided to be doubled this time by the testing agency.
NTA’s take charge over the JNUEE 2019 examination will also provide students an opportunity of mock tests which make candidates familiar with the online tests. In its 148th academic council meeting, the varsity authority also announced that in 2019-2020 admissions nearly 1080 M.Phil and Ph.D. seats will be offered for enrollment. Last year 720 research seats were on offer for admission.
JNUEE 2019: First Ever Online Examination Date Announced
There was a 12 members committee formed earlier in March 2018 which was initiated by the Vice Chancellor of the university and passed the process to change the mode of the test from subjective to objective type.
“The online examination consists of multiple choice questions [MCQs] of 70 marks each for all courses, which negates a comprehensive evaluation of analytical, writing and other skills which are so very necessary, particularly in humanities and social sciences. Not even IITs have MCQs as an exam module for social science and humanities departments,” said by the newly elected JNUSU president N. Sai Balaji.
“This mammoth online exercise, to churn out the brightest lots, will be the biggest deciding factor this year as the students' union has been vehemently opposing its implementation. It 'negates a comprehensive evaluation of analytical, writing and other skills which are so very necessary, particularly in humanities and social sciences,”said by JNUSU President.
However, JNU is the first Central University to have collaborated with the NTA to conduct its entrance exam online which is in its maiden year of authority as well. In October, the varsity had said that it is in the process of hiring a private vendor for managing the centers where the exams will be conducted.
