IGNOU School of Education has invited the applications for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) programme for the session January 2019. The eligible candidates can apply online from the IGNOU admissions portal on or before 15th November 2018. The entrance exam will be conducted in December for which exam date is still awaited.
The Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) programme at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been designed with the aim to develop an understanding of teaching-learning process at secondary and senior-secondary level among student teachers. IGNOU offered the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in English as well as Hindi medium.
Eligibility Criteria For B.Ed at IGNOU
- Candidate should have at least 50% marks either in the Bachelor’s Degree and/or in the Master’s Degree in Sciences/Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity. Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science and Mathematics with 55% marks or any other equivalent qualification.

The following categories are eligible to be students of B.Ed. (ODL):
(i) Trained in-service teachers in elementary education.
(ii) Candidates who have completed a NCTE recognized teacher education programme through face-to-face mode. - The reservation and relaxation of 5% marks in minimum eligibility will be provided to SC/ST/OBC (Non creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government.
- Reservation to Kashmiri Migrants and war widow candidates will be provided as per the University Rules.
- Master’s Degree awarded without a first degree is not accepted for purpose of Academic Studies in IGNOU.
Exam Pattern
The IGNOU B.Ed. entrance exam will consist of two parts A & B. There will be 100 questions of one mark each. The time duration of exam will be of 2 hours. Check the detailed exam pattern from the link given below:

Note: Any one subject is to be attempted from Part-B. The test items of Part-B i.e. Subject Competence will be based in the curriculum of IX/X classes prescribed by the NCERT/CBSE.
