Ministry of human resource or (MHRD ) is setting up National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct entrance exams that have been conducted by CBSE so far. The organization will be organizing JEE and NEET at least twice a year in online mode for the benefit of students and this shall also stop draining of  CBSE resources for conducting exams for various other educational bodies.

In response to a written question asked in the Lok Sabha, Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development (HRD) Upendra Kushwaha said,

“The NTA will initially conduct those entrance exams which are held by the CBSE. The exams will be conducted online at least twice a year, thereby giving an adequate opportunity to the candidates to bring out their best,” Kushwaha said.

As stated earlier that the Central government is very keen on setting up a National Testing Agency (NTA) which shall be an autonomous and self- sustained organization exclusively to conduct the entrance exams for the higher educational institutions in the country.

As said by the minister, the exams conducted by CBSE shall be part of NTA  hence the speculation are very high that JEE or Joint Entrance Exam and NEET or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test shall be conducted twice a year. The news i very pleasing for many students because now they shall have two chances to show their caliber and knowledge.

Why to set up NTA?

This step is taken because of the fact that CBSE was overburden majorly with following responsibilities:

  • Conducting the board examination for Class 10th and 12th.
  • Conducting the exams of various top brass entrance exams such as JEE NEET, UGC-NET etc.
  • Supervising and monitoring the quality of entire education in the institutions affiliated with the board.

which amounts to be huge workload over the institution and unnecessary diversion of resources which impacts the important job of looking after the quality of education.

The setting up of NTA will benefit over 40 lakh students aspiring for various entrance exams. Apart from the exams conducted by CBSE, NTA will also take the responsibility of conducting the exams, which are being conducted by AICTE and UGC.
