India's first Tourism University to open in West Bengal

International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) has planned to open a tourism university in West Bengal. It will be the first Tourism University in India. The university will come under West Bengal Private University Act. The university is named as IIHM University.

The main subjects in the university are going to be focused on areas like Tourism Development, Eco-Tourism, Hospitality and Tourism, Tourism in Digital World and Sustainable Tourism.

"Our vision is to co-create one of the finest Tourism University in the world, which will strive to provide huge employment opportunities for the students in West Bengal.", says Dr.Suborno Bose, the main promoter, and CEO of IIHM group.

A total of 150 crores is to be invested in making the college. Out of which, 70 crores has been used for infrastructure and state-of-art facilities. The college is located at Salt Lake Electronics Complex, Kolkata, West Bengal.

IIHM group has also planned to organize a Culinary Olympiad for the Young Chefs around the world. Around 50 nations will be participating in the event. Sanjeev Kapoor, a world-renowned chef and Padma Shri awardee said, "I am happy to be associated with events of a global scale that are being organized in India like Young Chef Olympiad by IIHM and Dr. Bose."
