Shri Ram College of Commerce (commonly known as SRCC) is one of the premier colleges affiliated to the University of Delhi granting undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Shri Ram College of Commerce was established on the day of Basant Panchmi in 1920. The first batch of SRCC was started by 12 students and 4 faculty members from a hired bungalow at 8, Darya Ganj, New Delhi.
In 1951, on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee, the Commercial College decided to specialize in the field of commerce and economics and hence give a new name to itself as Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) in recognition of the contribution made by its founder Sir Shri Ram and later in 1958, the B.A. (Honours) Economics course was introduced.
