The National Institute of Technology, Warangal (also known as NIT WARANGAL or NITW) is a premier engineering and research institution set up in Warangal, India and recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. IIT Warangal was established in 1959 and the foundation stone for this institute was laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 10th October 1959. Formerly it was known as Regional Engineering College and renamed as the National Institute of Technology, Warangal in September 2002. IIT Warangal was the first in the chain of 30 National Institutes of Technology (NIT) (formerly known as RECs) in the country. The Institute is well known for its dedicated faculty, staff and the well build infrastructure tributary to a healthy academic environment .The Institute is constantly trying to achieve higher levels of technical excellence.
IIT Warangal currently, total 13 academic departments and a few advanced research centers in various engineering courses. Its offers Undergraduate Programmes (B.Tech. degree) in Computer Science And Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics And Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Technology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering ,Metallurgical & Materials Engineering and Postgraduate programmes (M.Tech., M.Sc., MCA and MBA) and Doctoral Programs in engineering, sciences, humanities, physical education and management.
