The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli referred as NIT Trichy, is a public research university near the city of Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, India. The institute was founded in 1964. Recently, NIT Trichy was ranked among the top 15 Best Engineering Universities nationwide and also as one of the top three universities in Tamil Nadu. The institute has 16 departments covering different backgrounds such as Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities and Management Programs with a strong emphasis on scientific and technological education and research and development. In 2003, the institution was granted Deemed University status. The institute has its vision as to provide valuable resources for industry and society through excellence in technical education and research. The institute has 16 departments as already stated above has a strength of about 250 faculty members and more than 3,400 Enrolled Students. As of 2015, the annual intake for the B.Tech program was 810, with a student-faculty ratio of 25:1. Admission to most undergraduate and postgraduate courses in NIT Trichy is granted through written entrance examinations. Selections and Admissions to M.S. and Ph.D. Programs are based on written tests followed by personal interviews. The NIT Trichy campus is situated near Thuvakudi. The campus spans approximately 800 Acres providing various facilities to the students and faculties.
