About National Institute of Technology Silchar

National Institute of Technology Silchar (NIT Silchar) was established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College in Silchar and it is one of the 31 NITs of India. In 2002, it was renamed as National Institute of Technology, Silchar and gets the status of Institute of National Importance under the National Institutes of Technology Act, 2007.

NIT Silchar has a great academic record through its establishment and counted among the best NITs. The admission in NIT Silchar is done through the JEE Mains. NIT Silchar in NIRF Ranking 2018 was ranked 57 which were released by the MHRD. NIT Silchar offered Undergraduate degree programme in Engineering into its 6 main disciplines of CE, ME, CSE, ECE, EE and EIE and Postgraduate degree programme in Management (MBA) and Science(M.Sc).
