The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad ( which is also known as IIT Hyderabad or IITH ) is a public university located in Sangareddy, Telangana (formerly Hyderabad), India. Amongst the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD), Government of India under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011,IIT Hyderabad is also included. IIT Hyderabad comprises of 826 Undergraduate students, 395 Masters students, and 474 Ph.D. students. IITH has a total of 142 full-time faculties.
As far as the official motto is considered, IIT Hyderabad has no official motto. On 18 August 2008,IIT Hyderabad began functioning from the temporary campus at Ordnance Factory Medak, Eddumailaram having 111 B.Tech students in the first batch, initiated by Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering departments. Permanent campus of IIT Hyderabad is located on NH-65, Kandi near Sangareddy and is near the Outer Ring Road (Hyderabad). In July 2015,most of the institute’s operations are shifted to the permanent campus. In Phase 1 of construction, by the beginning of the academic year 2016-2017, 3 academic blocks, and 10 functioning hostel buildings each having a capacity of 192 students will be ready.
As per the National Institutional Ranking Framework which was published by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) in April 2016, IIT Hyderabad is ranked 7. IIT Hyderabad celebrates all the student activities and organizes a cultural program, ELAN. The top recruiters include Yahoo Japan, Blue Star, Murata Electronics, VE Commercial Vehicles, Coal India, Tata Advanced Systems, Wells Fargo, Hikari Tsushin, Vedanta, PayPal and the highest package offered is 35 LPA, having an average package of 11 LPA.
