About Indian Institute of Technology Goa

Indian Institute of Technology Goa (commonly known as IIT Goa) is an autonomous premier engineering and technology institute located in Goa. It is one of the six new IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. IIT Goa started functioning from July 2016 in its transit campus at Goa Engineering College (GEC) Campus located at Farmagudi, Goa. IIT Bombay is assigned as a mentoring institute for IIT Goa. Union ministry of Human Resources Development (HRD) had approved land of approximately 280 Acres for IIT Goa permanent campus in Loliem village. The construction may take time duration of three years till then IIT Goa would be functioning on its transit campus and is expected to move to its permanent facility by the fourth year.

Currently, IIT Goa is offering the four-year degree Programme in Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Electrical Engineering. As the first batch is yet to be passed out so there is no placement takes place in the IIT Goa.

Mission: The mission of IIT Goa is to impart knowledge and provide unique learning experience to prepare students to be responsible leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of Goa and the nation as a whole.
