Indian Institute of Management, Shillong abbreviated as IIM Shillong or IIMS), is a public, fully autonomous management institute in the city of Shillong, Meghalaya. It was the seventh Indian Institute of Management to be established in India. It is located in the north eastern region of India works with an aim for developing management education and research. On June 2004 the Union Minister of Human Resource Development along with the Chief Ministers of the North Eastern States in the review meeting held at Shillong decided to join hands with Indian institute of management and technology.
Shillong was decided as the final location for the institute after the agreement between the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region and the Chief Ministers of States. IIM Shillong which come into force in the year 2008. Along with the High quality standards and academic rigor, ever growing significance of sustainable development and business practices which are considered as the bench mark of an IIM.
The Institute attempt to impart to its students ethical values, tender hearted behaviour, and concern for society. IIM Shillong deliver opportunities outside the classrooms as well , like industrial interactions, sports competitions, cultural activities or entrepreneurial pursuits. IIM Shillong also organize Summer Internship experience and makes students well prepared to face the challenges of the corporate world.
