Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (also known as IIITA or IIIT Allahabad) is a type of public university and located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India, and also listed in one of the prestigious Indian Institutes of Information Technology. IIIT Allahabad was established in 1999 as a center of excellence in Information Technology and their allied areas. It was also conferred the "Deemed University" status by Govt. of India in the year 2000. The mission of IIIT-Allahabad is to be a unique and world class nucleating "Apex Center of Excellence" in the area of Information Technology and Allied Sciences, results in enhancing the India’s Technological strength in Information Technology (IT) and for become a pace-setting institution for other similar institutes to be established in the upcoming years.
IIIT is looking for deriving its strength from a linkage with sound Indian traditions of centuries past and sets out to create knowledge-based resources in regional languages. IIIT-Allahabad campus has been developed on 100 Acres of land at Devghat, Jhalwa, on the Outskirts of Allahabad which includes three Computer Centers with several labs each, lecture halls, a newly built auditorium, electronic library, and a residential campus. The NSC complex includes 5 laboratories, 8 Computer laboratories, 5 lecture halls, a conference room, an auditorium, Library, Cafeteria, office space and other required facilities. The total covered area is about 25,000 sq. ft. apart from this, there is also an open space of 50,000 sq. ft. is used for parking, lawns, and other sporting activities.
