Hindu college has its affiliation with the University of Delhi. Late Shri Krishna Dassji Gurwale founded the College, in 1899, with prominent Delhi citizens as trustees. Initially, the college was in the Kinari Bazar (Chandni Chowk) but was shifted to a building donated by Rai Bahadur Sultan Singh in Kashmiri gate. This college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in science, humanities and social sciences and commerce. This is one of the oldest colleges in Delhi.
Hindu college is one of the top colleges in India, it has been awarded as the ‘Star College’ for the Department of Biotechnology, by the Ministry of Science and Technology of India. This college is connected to the national movement for independence: some Governing Body members and trustees are directly involved in the Swadeshi and Boycott movements.
