Ambedkar University Delhi (abbreviated as AUD) is a public university established by the Government of the NCT of Delhi through an Act of the Delhi Legislature. Earlier, the university was known as Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University later it was renamed as Ambedkar University Delhi. The university was established in 2007 and began functioning from August 2008.
The university presently has three campuses - in Kashmere Gate, Karampura and Lodhi Road. AUD Kashmere Gate campus is operated in a 400 year old heritage buildings complex, located at the Lothian Road, Kashmere Gate. Currently, AUD offered undergraduate programmes in arts (BA Honours with a major in English, Economics, History, Sociology, Mathematics, Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) and Physcology) and postgraduate programmes in arts (MA), MDes (Social Design) and Management (MBA).
The University aspires to combine equity and social justice with excellence, and to pioneer an institutional culture of non-hierarchical functioning, team work and creativity. The University strongly believes that no knowledge becomes socially productive unless it spreads across society, transcending barriers of caste, creed and class. Only then can teaching and learning become liberating undertakings, contributing to the promotion of equality, social justice and excellence.
