Basic Details

NATIONAL ELIGIBILITY CUM ENTRANCE TEST (UG) was being conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) till 2018, as per regulations framed under the Indian Medical Council Act-1956 as amended in 2018 and the Dentists Act-1948 as amended in 2018, for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry. Now NEET is conducted by the NTA from 2019 onwards.

NEET UG 2020 will be conducted by NTA on 3rd May 2020. EarlieCBSE was the conducting body of the entrance examination till 2018 but now NTA is conducting it from 2019 onwards, and also hold the right for declaration of result and provide All India Rank to the Directorate General Health Services, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for supplying the result to state/other Counselling Authorities. All the medical colleges except AIIMS and JIPMER accept the NEET score for admission to its MBBS and BDS courses. A total of 53,430 seats is offered under NEET UG in which 25,840 seats are offered by private institutions and 27,590 seats are offered by the government colleges.

Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for NEET 2021 is given by the Indian Medical Council Act-1956/Regulations as amended in 2018 and the Dentists Act-1948/Regulations as amended in 2018, the eligibility criteria by the related regulation is given below:

  1. The candidates should be completed their 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as compulsory subjects in both Classes 11th and 12th from a recognized Board.
  2. The candidate should be completed his /her age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the 1st year MBBS/BDS Course.
  3. The candidate should not be more than 25 years as on the date of examination with the relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC category and persons entitled for reservation under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
  4. Those candidates who belong to an unreserved category should be born on or between 07.05.1996 and 01.01.2004.
  5. Those candidates who belong to a reserved category(SC/ST/OBC/PH Category ) should be born on or between 07.05.1991 and 01.01.2004.
  6. Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCIs), Persons with Indian Origin (PIOs) & Foreign Nationals are eligible to appear in NEET (UG)-2020.
  7. Those candidates who had completed their 10+2 from NIOS Board they are ineligible for the NEET-UG.
  8. The Gap year between Class 11th and 12th is not permitted to apply for NEET UG.

All the candidates before applying online for NEET 2021 must check their eligibility and be sure that they are fulfilling all the eligibility criteria which are mentioned above to appear in NEET UG.




Exam Pattern

  1. The Entrance Test shall consist of one paper containing 180 objective type questions (four options with a single correct answer) from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology) to be answered on the specially designed machine-gradable sheet using Ball Point Pen provided by CBSE at examination center only.
  2. Test duration would be of 3:00 Hours.
  3. Those candidates who qualifying NEET would be eligible for All India Quota and other quotas under the State Governments/Institutes, irrespective of the medium in which the examination is taken by a candidate, subject to other eligibility criteria.

Selection Procedure

  1. Candidates have to do their online registration from the official website. Click Here to apply online.
  2. Fill the online application form carefully and note down the registration no for the future requirements.
  3. Upload your photo and signature in the prescribed manner and make the payment of the application fee.
  4. After successfully filling up the form print the application form and keep it to yourself until the final admission.
  5. Do your preparation wisely and regular practice of exams.
  6. Appear for the examination on time at the day of examination and give your best shot. Candidates have to get minimum 50% marks in NEET UG to qualify the exam otherwise they will be treated as unqualified candidates.
  7. After the announcement of the result, the candidate gets the call letter for the counselling process and they have to attend the counselling by paying the counselling fee.
  8. In the counselling fill your choices and wait for the allotment letter. After getting the allotment letter take the admission to your desired institute which is allotted to you on the basis of choices filled by you during the counselling process.




Counselling Procedure

The counselling procedure will be online once the result announced and candidates have to register themselves for the counselling procedure. The online counselling would be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services.

The counselling will be done for seats under 15% All India Quota, Central Institutions including AFMC, ESI, BHU, AMU and Deemed Universities and counselling and admission other than 15% all India seats. The whole counselling procedure for NEET counselling is given below:

  • Register as AIQ/other than AIQ as per your eligibility for the first round of counselling in June 2020. Click Here to register
  • After successful registration, now candidates can sit for online counselling and choose their desired course and colleges by providing preferences and be locking their seats. 
  • The result of the first round will be published on the website and candidates can download their allotment letter(if any college allotted to him/her).
  • Those candidates who allotted the college after the first round now they have to report to the college for the admission and fulfill all admission formalities.
  • Those candidates who had not registered for the first round of counselling or didn't allotted any college they can register for the second round of counselling.
  • Now candidates have to do fresh choice filling and locking their seats as per there preferences.
  • The result of the second round of counselling will be announced and those candidates who allotted the college they have to report to the college for the admission and other formalities.
  • Those candidates who want to get admission other than 15% all India seats they can register for the third round of counselling(only those candidates who registered in the second round of NEET counselling for Deemed and Central universities but were not allotted any seat will be allowed to participate).
  • Remaining the procedure will be same as the above.

  1. Class 10 Certificate and Marksheet (for the purpose of D.O.B. proof)
  2. Class 12 Certificate and Marksheet
  3. Provisional allotment letter generated from the website after allotment
  4. NEET UG 2020 Admit Card

  7. Eight passport size photographs
  8. Community Certificate (applicable only for the reserved category)

Preparation Strategy

  1. Focused more and more on your study and your basics must be cleared so that you will be able to solve the questions easily.
  2. Cover all the Topics which is given in the Syllabus so that you will be able to overcome the difficulty level.
  3. Do not memorize only, do some written practice also.
  4. Do your preparation in your own way means to create your shortcut and tricks to understand the problems.
  5. Practice more and more so that you will become habitual to solve the questions which help in brush up your concepts and you will be also understood Time Management.
  6. You can also prefer the group study if possible because its help to understand the difficulty of the questions.
  7. Don't be so stressed during exam periods keep yourself Relaxed and Calm and prepare yourself in a positive manner.

Exam Syllabus

The Question Papers for the test shall be based on a Common Syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India and implemented in the year 2013. The full syllabus of NEET 2021 (UG) subjectwise  is given below:

  • Physics:
    Class 11th: Physical world and measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves.
    Class 12th: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.
     
  • Chemistry:
    Class 11th: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, s-Block Element (Alkali and Alkaline earth metals), Some p-Block Elements, Organic Chemistry- Some Basic Principles and Techniques, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.
    Class 12th: Solid State, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, General Principles and Processes of Isolation of Elements, p- Block Elements, d and f Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Haloalkanes and Haloarenes, Alcohols, Phenols and Ethers, Aldehydes, Ketones and Carboxylic Acids, Organic Compounds Containing Nitrogen, Biomolecules, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life.
     
  • Mathematics:
    Class 11th: Diversity in Living World, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology.
     Class 12th: Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and environment.
