Basic Details

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is a national level online management entrance examination which was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year till 2017. The Test will now be conducted by the NTA. This test helps various prestigious institutions and colleges to select suitable graduate students for admission in various Management streams and programs.

The CMAT is a three-hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate's ability across various segments like Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension and General Awareness. The CMAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges.

Eligibility

Before applying for the CMAT, candidates must ensure that they are fulfilling all the eligibility criteria for the examination. Check the eligibility criteria below:

  • Applicant must have the citizenship of India.
  • Graduates in any discipline can apply for CMAT exam.
  • Final year students of Graduate Courses (10+2+3) whose result will be declared before commencement of admission for the academic year 2019-20 can also apply for CMAT online exam.




Exam Pattern

The test pattern of CMAT will consist of 4 sections having 25 questions each. The detailed exam pattern is given below:

  • The duration of the CMAT test shall be 180 minutes (i.e.3 hours).
  • Candidate must note that there shall be negative marking for wrong answers.
  • For each wrong answer, 1 mark shall be deducted.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure of the Institutes affiliated to AICTE through CMAT is different in all institutes i.e. selection procedure varies as per the participating institute. After qualifying the written examination the selection process is completed by two steps which are given below:

  1. Group Discussion
  2. Personal Interview




Counselling Procedure

After the declaration of the CMAT merit list, the shortlisted applicants need to register them in order to participate in the counselling procedure and pay the counselling fees for the final admission in the AICTE approved colleges. After the successful registration, aspirants will have to choose their college and course and lock the options. After choice filling and seat lock, the seat allotment will be provided. Once seat allotment is over, the students called for the document verification round.

The list of documents to be verified at the center is given below:

  1. Mark sheet of 10th and 12th class
  2. Mark sheet of all semesters of the degree course
  3. Admit card of the exam
  4. Scorecard of the exam
  5. 5 passport size color photographs
  6. Caste certificates in the case of reserved category students
  7. Identity certificate
  8. Candidate’s domicile

After the successful document verification, students will be able to get admission into the allocated colleges.

Preparation Strategy

Every exam is like a nightmare for the students so candidates have to prepare accordingly, there are some points given below that may help students:

  1. Focused more and more on your study and your basics must be cleared so that you will be able to solve the questions easily.
  2. Cover all the Topics which is given in the syllabus so that you will be able to overcome the difficulty level.
  3. Practice more and more so that you will become habitual to solve the questions which help in brush up your concepts and you will be also understood Time Management.
  4. Do your preparation in your own way means to create your shortcut and tricks to understand the problems.
  5. You can also prefer the group study if possible because its helps to understand the difficulty of the questions.
  6. Don't be so stressed during exam periods keep yourself Relaxed and Calm and prepare yourself in a positive manner.

Logical Reasoning

Analytical Reasoning, Linear Arrangements, Statements Arguments, Sequencing, Matrix Arrangements, Number Series, Cause and Effects, Analogy Test, Blood Relationship Tests, Coding and Decoding, Inferences, Statements and Conclusion, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Symbol Based Problems, Direction and Distance Test, Ranking Tests, Statements Assumptions.

Language Comprehension

English Grammar, Jumbled Para, Sentence Correction, English Usage Errors, Paragraph Completion, One-word Substitution, Idioms and Phrases, Synonyms and Antonyms, Sentence Improvement, Reading Comprehension.
