UGC Issues Order To Audit 10 Central Universities

University Grants Commission has ordered to conduct an audit of 10 central universities. By conducting an audit, UGC will take a note of the irregularities of varsities in following focus area:

  1. Research and academic audit issues.
  2. Administrative irregularities.
  3. Financial matters.
  4. Infrastructure.

The universities shall be further directed to resolve the issues as early as possible. University Grants Commission had constituted five committees on April 25, 2017. All the five committees will audit two universities each and submit a report within a month.Following 10 universities are in UGC quality check radar :

  1. Hari Singh Gour University, Madhya Pradesh (MP)
  2. University of Tripura
  3. Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya, Wardha
  4. Central University of Jammu
  5. Central University of Rajasthan
  6. Central University of Jharkhand
  7. Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Uttaranchal
  8. Allahabad University
  9. Pondicherry University
  10. Aligarh Muslim University

The committee is constituted from professors of following of eminent institutes

  1. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
  2. Delhi University
  3. Jawaharlal Nehru University
  4. Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore
  5. Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

Hope this initiative shall bring more transparency, quality and standard to an educational institution within the country.
