NEET 2019: May Be Held Only Once In Offline Mode

As per previous plan announced by HRD Minister regarding NEET exam which has to be conducted twice in a year now may not be conducted twice in 2019. HRD ministry is also discussing a proposal of the health ministry to continue with the offline mode at least for 2019.

“Status quo for the undergraduate medical entrance test in 2019 with no change” according to an HRD Official.

About a month ago HRD Minister has announced that national level engineering exam JEE Main and medical entrance examination NEET will be held twice a year from 2019 in online mode. According to the minister, Joint Entrance Examination Main and National Eligibility cum Entrance Examination will be held by the newly formed examination conducting agency, National Testing Agency (NTA).

The tentative dates are also announced for these exams and NEET 2019 is scheduled in February 2019 between 3rd February 2019 to 17th February 2019 and has to be repeated in May 2019.

As per media sources, under pressure from the health ministry, the HRD ministry is “reconsidering the decision to conduct NEET twice in 2019. Also, the health ministry has proposed to continue the test on pen-paper mode in 2019”.

The HRD ministry, according to officials, is yet to take a call on the matter and a decision is likely next week. According to an HRD official, “The health ministry also feels that CBSE should assist NTA in the conduct of the exam as the Board has been conducting it for many years, earlier in the form of PMT.”
