Low Academic Quality And Admissions Levels Call For Closure Of Colleges, Says AICTE
As per this report of Tmies of India, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is all set to close about 800 engineering colleges across India as told to TOI by AICTE chairman Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe, majorly because of following broad reasons What does Progressive closure mean ? Progressive closure means the institute cannot admit students to the first year in that academic year, for which progressive closure is granted; however, the existing students will continue. Approximately 150 colleges are closed down voluntarily every year due as they were granted progressive closure, because they were uncomfortable with stricter AICTE rules which is not healthy for Indian educational institutions. Criteria to Choose thee colleges: According to a rule of the council, the parameters set to make this most unwanted list of colleges are as follows: AICTE is very keen on making it compuslsorily for every second and third-year student to undergo internship for ensuring that every engineering students across streams are industry-ready so that they are hired on time. "Internship is the time when most students are observed by companies and have a fair chance of being absorbed. So it's better to be hired that way instead of depending on just five minutes of interview at campus placements. My advice to budding engineers is that they should be attentive and hardworking during internship," the chairman said.
