Karnataka CET Confirms NEET Mandatory For AYUSH Courses

 

In the year 2017, FillandFind.com has informed you that AYUSH Minister has asked all the states to hold admissions to all AYUSH courses through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) [ Click Here to know ], but only a few states were able to conduct admissions through NEET. From this year, the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) confirmed that admission to AYUSH courses will be conducted through NEET.

Last year the ministry of AYUSH issued notification stating that admission to BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS and BNYS will be done through NEET merit list from 2018 onwards. Although there was no official confirmation regarding the same form CBSE’s end, which is the conducting body of NEET. With notification issued by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), it is now final that admissions to AYUSH courses will be done through NEET, for Karnataka also.

Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Yesso Naik said,

"The demand for Ayurveda, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy, Unani medicines and Yoga have increased worldwide and the number of students pursuing such courses has also risen. So there is a need to maintain standard of education in this stream".

KEA which used to conduct Common Entrance Test for admission to AYUSH courses also confirmed that from now onwards the students will have to appear for NEET to get admission to private or government AYUSH colleges.

KEA released notification stating, the admissions to AYUSH courses in both Government and Private AYUSH colleges shall be made based on the rank in the NEET from the academic year 2018-19.
