Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has started the applications for the Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH) Ph.D. programmes. Interested and eligible candidates may apply online on or before 23^rd May 2019 from the official website.

The list of eligible students will be released on 31^st May 2019 and those eligible candidates will be a call for an interview in Chandigarh. The complete schedule for the CSIR IMTECH Ph.D. admissions is given below:

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

For Ph.D in Engineering-

Candidate should hold a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology following a four year engineering/technology or 4/5 year science degree; or an integrated minimum 5 year M Tech degree; or equivalent.

AND

Candidate should have fulfilled at least one of the following:

• Should be awarded with a national level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes.
• Should meet all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-SRF.
• Should meet all the conditions forward of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University).
• Should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a Ph.D.
• Should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored students.

For Integrated Dual-Degree Ph.D. (IDDP) Program

Other Admissions News

A 4 year undergraduate degree in Engineering or Science (such as BE/BTech/BS), or a five year degree in Science (such as MSc), or equivalent.

AND

At least one of the following

• Should be awarded with a national level fellowship (such as NET JRF) tenable at CSIR institutes.
• Should meet all the conditions required for eligibility for the CSIR-GATE-JRF.
• Should meet all the conditions forward of the INSPIRE fellowship (typically awarded to students ranked first in the University).
• Should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistants to register for a Ph.D.
• Should meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry sponsored students.

For PhD in Sciences

• Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology, Medicine or Master's degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a Ph.D. degree.
• The candidate should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.
• Project Assistants, Senior Research Fellows and CSIR Scientists are also eligible to apply (as per AcSIR Ordinance No. 4(5)).
• Sponsored PhD (Sciences):
• Regular: Master’s degree in Science
• Direct: Undergraduate degree in Science or allied subjects with at least 8.5 and/or 1^st rank holder in University/ Institution.

Selection Procedure:

1. The eligible candidates will be called for interview in between 24^th June 2019 to 12^th June 2019 at IMTECH, Chandigarh.
2. The interview will be aimed at assessing the candidate’s knowledge, critical analysis, logical reasoning and aptitude for scientific research.
3. The result of the selected candidates will be declared on 17^th July 2019 on AcSIR website.
4. Selected candidates are needed to pay the fee for the first semester of Ph.D. programme as per AcSIR fee structure.
5. Currently, per semester fee of the programme is Rs. 7,000/- and thesis submission fees is Rs. 5,000/-.
