CBSE Discontinues And Scraps 41 Vocational & Academic Elective Subjects For Class 12th From Next Session

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue seven elective subjects and 34 vocational subjects for students of classes 11 and 12 from 2017-18 because of fewer takers every year, i.e., 2017-18. In total of 41 subjects have been scrapped.

CBSE has scrapped the following academic electives: -

  • Human Rights and Gender Studies.
  • Library and Information Science.
  • Theatre Studies.
  • Graphic Design.
  • Heritage Craft.
  • Creative Writing and Translation Studies.
  • Philosophy.

 

CBSE has also scrapped 34 vocational subjects that include: -

  1. Integrated Transport Operations.
  2. Music Aesthetics.
  3. Health Education.
  4. Confectionery.
  5. Communication.
  6. Poultry Nutrition and Physiology.
  7. Poultry Products and Technology.
  8. Poultry Disease and their Control.
  9. Foundry Technology.
  10. Milk Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
  11. Nail Technology and Retail.
  12. Arts and Science of Makeup and Retail.
  13. Estimation in Civil Engineering
  14. Elementary Structural Mechanics.
  15. Secretarial Practice and Accounting.
  16. Dairy Animals.
  17. First Aid and Medical Emergency Care.
  18. Office Communication.
  19. Health center management.
  20. Air conditioning and refrigeration.
  21. Child Health Nursing.
  22. Optics.
  23. Ophthalmic Technology.
  24. Lab Medicine.
  25. Radiation Physics.
  26. Radiography-I.
  27. Radiography-II.
  28. Mid-Wifery.
  29. Health Centre Management.
  30. Bakery.
  31. Music Production.
  32. Biology Ophthalmic.
  33. AC & Refrigeration - I.
  34. AC & Refrigeration - II.

Though it seems that many of the above subjects are good in principle but the way they are delivered to students make them full of boredom which results in fewer takers.
