Budget 2017 : UGC To Be Reformed For Transforming Higher Education

Many reforms on education were given by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley while presenting the Union budget 2017-2018 in Lok Sabha today, February 1 at 11 am.  While announcing benefits for the education sector, Arun Jaitley said the focus will be on energizing youth and create jobs. In the budget speech, Jaitley announced to bring out reforms in University Grants Commission (UGC) for higher education. Furthermore, Jaitley announced to free CBSE from conducting examinations and will focus majorly on academics.

The government seems to be keen in transforming education sector and regulate it well.

Here's what he said:

"Greater autonomy will be provided to major institutes."

"UGC will be reformed for higher education."

In addition to this, Jaitley announced that the budget allocation for welfare of women and children under various ministries will be increased to Rs 1,84,632 Cr.
