Appointment Of New Vice Chancellors At Various Universities In Rajasthan And Bihar
In a series of various appointments for the post of vice chancellors in Rajasthan and Bihar, various universities have got new heads. Hon'ble Governor of Rajasthan Kalyan Singh, has appointed vice-chancellors of three universities across the state. He appointed VCs only after holding consultations with the state government. The new VCs will hold office for three years or till the attainment of 70 years of age. The following universities got new vice-chancellors: - On the other hand, Hon'ble Governor of Bihar , Ram Nath Kovind as well as Chancellor of state universities have appointed acting VCs for 7 universities across the state and nalanda university gets a permanaent VC as Dr. Bhatkar Acting VCs have been appointed for the following varsities: - The point to be noted here is that In the set up of Indian universities, the President of India is the ex-officio Visitor of all the Central Universities. The functions of the Visitor include the appointment of the Vice-Chancellors; appointment or nomination of persons on the university, court, academic council, executive council. selection committees for teachers; approval of statutes and the visitation rights to cause an inspection. The Governor of the State is a Chancellor of the State Universities. While the Chancellor is described as " the Head of the University ",the Vice- Chancellor is the " Principal Academic and Executive Officer of the University". As the academic and executive head of the University, the Vice-Chancellor has to play the most significant role as the leader of the university system both in the executive and academic wings. He functions as a " bridge" between the executive and the academic wings of the university and as he is the head of both these wings, he is both a "teacher and an " administrator".
