Students who are planning to take AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy) as their undergraduate course will have to qualify NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) from the year 2018. The ministry of AYUSH made NEET score mandatory for taking admission to postgraduate AYUSH courses.

The ministry wants CBSE to conduct NEET for AYUSH courses. Ministry feels it would be easy for aspirants if CBSE conducts the exam.

Around 36,000 seats are available under the AYUSH system for various undergraduate courses. The ministry of AYUSH is also planning to set up All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in five cities across the country. However, the locations are yet not confirmed. The ministry had sought funds from the central government to set up AIIA in five cities apart from New Delhi.
