Assocham Reports: Only 20 Percent Of Students From B-schools Gets Job

According to Assocham, only 20% of business graduates get a job and the reason for it, as observed by Assocham, are factors like demonetization, dull business and delaying of new projects. Assocham is a not for profit organization, that works to build a relation of India with business all across the world.

The fall in placement, this year, has gone below in comparison with last year’s placement number, which was around 30%. Not only the placement percentage has lowered but also the salary packages offered has gone down by around 40-50%.

Seeing such responses from B-schools, many parents, as well as students, have started not considering management as a career choice. This has led to the closing of many B-schools, around 400, for they could not manage to gather the required number of students at their college. Colleges at Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Lucknow etc. have faced such endings.

The reason, as per Assocham, for such result, is the behavior carried by many colleges. The nature to admit students just to fill the seats and not considering the quality or educational background of the students. A college must also treat engineering students and commerce students differently. Engineering students, on one hand, have quantitative mindset while commerce students carry managerial approach to problems.

To overcome the issue of low placement ratio, Assocham suggests colleges improve their infrastructure, train faculties me, work on building the relationship with industries and help equip students well enough to get a job.
