The year 2018 has been like a nightmare to the CBSE students. After several paper leaks followed by reexamination has shaken student’s faith over the education board and from the system. March 28, 2018, was initially the last date of examination, the examination of  Mathematics was conducted on this date. But the joy of exam end did not last long as the news of Class 10th Mathematics paper leak spread. In a notification issued by CBSE, on its website, says that the Class 10 Mathematics and Class 12 Economics examination will be scheduled again in order to make fairness to students.

For some students, it might be a relief but the mass is not happy with the decision. Students claim that this tends to break their confidence and builds stress for the examination more. Students feel reexamination may lead them to perform poorly as compared to how they performed the first time. Students, to show their protest against the decision, accumulated at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, raising slogans “we want justice”. Students claim the decision of reexamination to be unfair on their end, they demand no re-examination or if the re-examination has to be conducted then it should be conducted for all the subjects.

While there exist chaos among the students regarding the reexamination. Delhi police have started to raid several places to find the culprit behind the crime. CBSE had received a complaint via fax on March 23, 2018, from an unknown source that a coaching institute owner from Sector 8, Rajinder Nagar is behind the leak. Not just the fax but CBSE also received an unaddressed letter on March 26, 2018, which contained 4 sheets of handwritten answers of Economics paper.

As per reports, around 25 people, mostly students, have been questioned. Police are hoping to trace back to the source from where the leak initiated.

Not just the students, several eminent political leaders also voiced against the system. Congress president Rahul Gandhi speaks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi, over the leak, saying the "chowkidar was weak". Aam Aadmi Party members also expressed their concern for the students against the issue. AAP member, Alka Lamba said Prime Minister Modi "gave big lectures to the students on the examination" but the students are "suffering as they will have to reappear". Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said that the Modi government has become a "leakage government". He added, "First SSC, now CBSE, they also leaked the dates of polls before the Election Commission's official announcement. I am not raising any questions against CBSE's efficiency but the recent leakage is unfortunate”. AAP leader Mr. Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on March 29, 2018, “I really feel sorry and sad for the students who have to give their exams again for no fault of theirs. Responsibility shud be fixed n strict action shud be taken against those responsible”.

HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar addressed a press conference on March 29, 2018, in the capital. Said,” This incident is unfortunate. We are also parents. I understand what the students are going through. Hence, those responsible will not be spared.” He added, “This is a stain on CBSE. We have made a SIT and there is an internal investigation going on”. The minister assured required changes will be made in the system to ensure leak-free examination. Javadekar said, he had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and has decided to turn towards technology to bring a system so that the incident of leak can be completely avoided. The further announcement regarding the leak will be made on Monday or on Tuesday.
