NEET 2018 Likely To Be Held On May 10, 2018, Official Notification Still Awaited

In latest Medical Council of India (MCI) meeting, which was held on October 25, 2017 in New Delhi, was attended by the President of the Medical Council of India Dr. Jayshree Mehta and Vice President Dr. CV Bhirmanandham.

The MCI executive committee has stated that National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 is likely to be conducted by May 10, 2018. It’s a clear-cut approval given by MCI to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to conduct the exam on any day before May 10, 2018.

The executive committee has also stated that the result of NEET 2018 will be declared by the first week of June, while the counseling procedure (1st round) for NEET, All India Quota seats and for the seats at Deemed and Central Universities, will be held from June 12 onwards.

With a lot of controversies and protests across India over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 question paper this year, the Union Human Resource Development minister Prakash Javadekar has said vernacular question papers for the NEET will be a mere translation of the question paper in English.

HRD Minister said following on the controversy:

"The vernacular question papers for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) -- the all-India entrance examination for medical colleges -- will just be a translation of the question paper in English,"

 

Confusion created among aspirants due to unverified news reports

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2018 is likely to be conducted by May 10, 2018 doesn’t mean the exam will be held on May 10, 2018. Official NEET 2018 notification regarding Exam is still be awaited and is expected to be released by the CBSE by January 2018 and that will be the confirmation one for all the deadlines and important information regarding NEET 2018.

The recent change announced in NEET:

  • The NEET-UG will be conducted in six additional languages from the commencing academic session 2017-18, said a statement released by the Union Health Ministry
  • The six languages in which the exams will be conducted are Gujarati, Marathi, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu and Tamil, apart from the conventional English and Hindi
