NEET 2017: Plea For Exam Date Extension Dismissed By Apex Court

The Supreme Court of India today dismissed a plea which asked to reschedule the May 7 National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 exam, stating the prime reason of completeness of prepration of conduction of exam.

Who Filled The petition and Why?

Chairman of Sankalp Charitable Trust, Dr (Major) Gulshan Garg (retd), filed the petitioned in the Supreme Court on the NEET extension, citing th e prime reason to be 10-15 days for preparation because of the closeness of the board exams and the common medical entrance exam. He also stated the fact that last year, the interval was two months.

This year more than 3 lakh students shall appear for NEET 2017.

NEET will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in India in Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
