CBSE Re-Exam Dates Announced: Class 12th Economics Exam Scheduled On 25th April And Class 10th Maths Exam Is Yet To Be Decided

After the chaos erupted due to the CBSE paper leak, the board has taken a decision to retake the exams for Class 12th economics.

CBSE announced the re-examination date today i.e. 30 March 30, 2018, late in the evening.

The board has decided that retest will be conducted for Class 12th economics, nationwide on April 25th, 2018.

No re-examination for Non-Resident Indians or NRI students.

The board has also taken the decision not to go ahead with nationwide retest for class 10th Mathematics paper and if needed the examination will be conducted in the month of July only for the students of Delhi and Haryana.

"Regarding Class 10th re examination, as leak was restricted to Delhi and Haryana, if it at all a re-exam will happen, it will happen only in Delhi & Haryana and a decision will be taken on this in next 15 days. If at all a re-exam is done, it will be in July," said Education Secretary Anil Swarup IAS.

The final decision on Class 10 Mathematics re-examination is still awaited as CBSE is waiting for reports from police on the geographical impact of the leak. The government has termed this to be a sensitive move in favour of students, though many educationists consider it to be otherwise.

"Our immediate concern of the children who have suffered and this decision is in that context. We will nail the person who did this," Mr Swarup said.

"If there is a decision to hold re-examination in these two states, it would be held in July. In other states there would be no such re-examination," said Mr. Swarup.

Meanwhile, police have also quizzed some students, tutors and coaching center owners over the leak. The investigating agency has also sought details from the board regarding examination centers , center superintendents and banks where papers were kept.

If media reports are to be believed, the police also had two-hour long discussion with the controller of examination, CBSE, to understand the whole process of how the examinations are conducted and thus trying to find the loophole and catch the culprits responsible.

The police have formed two special investigation team supervised by joint commissioner of police and cases have been registered on charges of criminal breach of trust, cheating and criminal conspiracy.

The press conference where the dates were announced was attended by Central Board of Secondary Education chairperson Anita Karwal IAS and Mr Swarup IAS.

The CBSE runs 19316 affiliated schools in India and 211 schools in 25 foreign countries. Details of the Class 10 maths and class 12 economics re-exam dates will also be released on CBSE official website - www.cbse.nic.in.
