The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has recently signed a pact with Anyang Institute of Technology (AIT), China to offer programmes in the Schools of Computer Science & Engineering and Mechanical & Building Sciences at VIT. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Kadhambari S. - Assistant Vice-President, VIT-Chennai and Xue-Zhi Li – Vice-President, AIT-China.
Ms. Kadhambari, while speaking over the pact told that the agreement signed with AIT-China is a pathway for them to conduct various summer courses and internship in the areas of engineering, languages and business management at VIT-Chennai campus.
“The agreement includes students and faculty exchange programmes and joint research in inter-disciplinary areas of specialisation of high relevance to both institutions. With a futuristic view to explore avenues for cutting-edge research, they also plan to establish Centres of Excellence in specialised fields of mutual interest in Science, Engineering, Technology, Management and Humanities,” she added.
To make Chinese students enrolled at VIT feel at home and comfortable with rest of the studnets, they first attend a three-month language course as this helps them to improve their English. VIT has also set up a Chinese language centre in partnership with HANBAN, which offers entry level of Chinese at the centre is free for the VIT students. The centre also conducts a Chinese Proficiency Test, clearing which the students also get a chance to visit China.
