Admission to the two-year PGDM programmes in IIMs is on merit, based on a rigorous selection process comprising of Personal Interview, Written Ability Test / Group Discussions, and scores in the Common Admission Test which is commonly known as CAT.
About CAT
CAT is a management aptitude test conducted by the IIMs primarily to evaluate and shortlist candidates for the post graduate programme. It is a computer based exam available for eager and eligible candidates to register and take once a year.
The Indian Institutes of Management are public establishments with autonomous control over its day to day operations and curriculum. Today, there are 20 IIMs as public autonomous institutes in India.
Points To Consider For CAT - 2017
- CAT 2017 will be conducted in two sessions on one day. The exam will be held on 3rd December, 2017 (Sunday / Tentative).
- The exam will be conducted in 138 cities(Tentative).
- Candidates must pay the registration fee through online mode only, including Credit Card, Debit Card, and Net Banking.
- After submission of Application, candidates will be permitted to download their Admit Card from October 18, 2017 onwards, till the date of examination.
- The duration of the examination will be 180 minutes. There will be three sections:
- Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension.
- Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.
- Section III: Quantitative Ability.
