The National institute of technology, Manipur commonly referred as NIT, Manipur is an institute of National Importance. It is situated in the capital city of Manipur i.e. Imphal. It was started in the year 2010, along with the 10 new NITs that were formed this year. Just like many other new NITs formed in 2010 it also started in the other institute i.e. a Government Polytechnic Campus. From 2013-14 session regular classes started in the Langol (Imphal) campus.
NIT, Manipur imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate degree i.e. B.Tech and M.Tech respectively .B.tech admissions are based on JEE Mains rank while M.tech admissions are based on GATE score with a pretty stipend of INR 12,400 P.M. NIT, Manipur also gives Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree for B.Tech and M.Tech scholars. In spite of academic curriculum NIT, Manipur organises OUGRI, a cultural and technical fest, every year starting from the year 2013. NIT, Manipur also conducts sports meet every year giving importance to an all round development and growth of the scholars.
Vision: The Institute aims to provide the best infrastructure and amenities to the students. The institute envisions being one of the best technical institutes in South-East Asia. The Institute aims to attract students from the neighbouring South-East Asian countries in view of the Look-East Policy of the Government of India. The Institute strongly believes that the success of an Institute lies in the faculty and will leave no stone unturned to attract the best faculty available in the country.
Mission: The Institute being accorded the status of "An Institute of National Importance" aspires to be a knowledge hub for the region. The Institute through its academic and research activities would act as an incubation centre for aspiring "technopreneurs". The Institute provides an ideal platform for national integration through emotional integration as half the students are from outside the state. It envisions being an institute producing the human resource of the world class standard who will contribute significantly to the well-being of mankind.
