The National Institute of Technology, Goa is popularly known as NIT Goa was established in the year 2010 along with the 10 new NITs established by Ministry of Human Resouce Development (MHRD). The motto of NIT Goa is "सा विद्या या विमुक्तये" which means "True Knowledge Liberates". Students get admission in NIT,Goa through JEE MAINS rankings. In the starting years, NIT Goa was guided and mentored by NIT Karnatka, Surathkal. The 50% of its seats are reserved for the students of Goa. However, a talk to include the students of Daman &Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshwadweep under the 50% reservation is underway. NIT, Goa or NITG presently has three departments namely Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) with 298 students,19 faculty members and 17 supporting staff. "Technival" is the annual technical fest organised by the NIT, Goa in the month of October every year.
