National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NITC) was established in 1961. Until 2002, the institute was named as Calicut Regional Engineering College (CREC). It is a federally funded technical university and an institute of national importance. Situated in a picturesque landscape at the foothills of the Western Ghats, NITC is located about 22 kilometers north-east of Calicut City. It is ranked as the 35th Best Engineering Institute of India according to a survey. The institute has its vision as international standing of the highest caliber. The institute offers courses in undergraduate (B.Tech) in various engineering streams. In parallel, the institute also offers postgraduate that is M.Tech. In addition to this, the institute also offers an applied Computer Science Course granting (M.C.A.), a Business Course granting (M.B.A.) and (M.Sc.) in Science Departments. Ph.D programs are available in all Engineering and Science disciplines and management too.
