Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (commonly known as IIT Dharwad) is an autonomous engineering and technology institute located in Dharwad. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 under the mentorship of IIT Bombay in its transit campus of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur village on the National Highway NH-4 connecting Mumbai-Bengaluru, near the Dharwad bench of High Court. IIT Dharwad has its permanent campus which is under construction of nearly about 470 acres of land provided by the Karnataka Government about 2-3 km away from existing WALMI campus.
Currently, IIT Dharwad offering Bachelor degree in Technology (B.Tech) in three disciplines and Doctoral degree(Ph.D.). As IIT Bombay is the mentoring institute, the curriculum is built over the curriculum of IIT Bombay. All the instructions of courses of IIT Dharwad are in collaboration with IIT Bombay faculty members. As the first batch is yet to be passed out so there is no placement takes place in the IIT Dharwad.
