Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is an Indian media centre of learning, funded and promoted by the Government of India in New Delhi. IIMC is an autonomous society approved by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. IIMC was established in 1965 by the Government of India on the recommendation of a team of internationally known mass communication specialists from UNESCO and the Ford Foundation. IIMC is among India's premier institutes for training, teaching and research in mass communication.
IIMC has its headquarters at Delhi and also have five Regional Centres in Aizawl (Mizoram), Amravati (Maharashtra), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (J&K) and Kottyam (Kerala). IIMC Delhi offers Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism (in English, Hindi, Urdu), Radio and TV Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations.
VISION: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication will set global standards for media education, research, extension and training, using state-of-the-art technology for building a knowledge driven information society, contributing to human development, empowerment and participatory democracy, anchored in pluralism, universal values and ethics.
MISSION: To create a dynamic learning and working environment which nurtures new ideas, creativity, research and scholarship and develops leaders and innovators in the domain of media and mass communication.
