The Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University (SRM) is a deemed university in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It was founded in 1985 as SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, under University of Madras. The university has 7 campuses of which 4 are in Tamil Nadu and others in NCR. The institute became SRM University in 2006 when it attained the status of a full-fledged university.
SRM University is one of the top ranking universities in India with over 55,000 students and more than 3600 faculties across all the campuses, offering a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs in Engineering, Management, Medicine and Health sciences, and Science and Humanities.
The university is approved by the University Grants Commission and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). SRM University is headed by the Chancellor, supported by the Chairman Mr. Ravi Pachamoothoo, the President Dr. P. Sathya Narayanan, the Vice - President Dr. R. Shiva Kumar and the Vice - Chancellor, Prof. Prabir Bagchi.
