The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur, NIT Jamshedpur, formerly known as Regional Institute of Technology. It was established on 15th August 1960 as a Regional Institute of Technology at Adityapur by Dr. Srikrishna Sinha(first Chief Minister of Bihar and the first Chairman of the Board of Governors of RIT, Jamshedpur). After 1st April 2013, the institute is fully funded and governed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. In NIT Jamshedpur there are total 12 Departments including engineering, science and humanities. NIT Jamshedpur is located in the western part of the city Jamshedpur, which is at the southern end of the state of Jharkhand and is bordered by the states of Orissa and West Bengal.
